Inmates sue county over alleged 'cruel and inhumane' treatment

A group of Riverside jail inmates is suing the county in federal court, contending they face a "cruel and inhumane" lack of medical and mental health care while under the county's charge.

A group of Riverside jail inmates is suing the county in federal court, contending they face a "cruel and inhumane" lack of medical and mental health care while under the county's charge.

The class-action suit filed Tuesday comes as counties across the state struggle to deal with additional inmates in the wake of realignment, which has seen the transfer of low-level offenders from state to county jurisdiction.
