Johnson & Johnson to pay $8.3 million in first hip implant case

A Los Angeles jury on Friday awarded $8.3 million in damages to a victim of a defective all-metal hip implant in a bellwether case against manufacturer DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson currently facing roughly 9,000 lawsuits around the country related to its recalled implants.
