State Bar board will debate charging lawyers to support legal services programs
The State Bar is likely this week to decide to seek legislation that would impose a surcharge on lawyer dues to bolster funding for struggling legal aid programs.

The State Bar Board of Trustees is set to consider adding a new fee to lawyers' dues bills to help fund struggling legal services programs.
During meetings Wednesday and Thursday in Sacramento, the trustees are scheduled to debate whether to ask the Legislature to impose a legal services dues surcharge.
