Police officer accused of witness tampering

A South Lake Tahoe police officer was arraigned Thursday on charges related to instructing a witness to destroy evidence and disrupting an "official proceeding."

A South Lake Tahoe police officer was arraigned Thursday on multiple counts of witness tampering related to allegations he instructed a witness to destroy evidence and disrupt an "official proceeding."


The officer, John Poland, entered a plea of not guilty and requested a jury trial.


An FBI agent detailed Poland's alleged crimes in an affidavit filed in the case.
