Immigrants who fear gang members may be granted asylum, 9th Circuit rules

More immigrants who confront street gangs in their home countries may merit asylum, thanks to a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling Wednesday.

More immigrants who confront street gangs in their home countries may merit asylum in the U.S., thanks to a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling Wednesday.


The decision by an en banc panel in favor of an El Salvador girl who fingered gang members after they murdered her father could expand asylum claims based on gang retaliation fears, immigration advocates said.
