Creditor files suit against Howrey partners

A new unsecured creditor in the Howrey LLP bankruptcy sued 302 former firm lawyers Thursday in an attempt to recoup money directly from those partners, but outside observers are skeptical that the maneuver will succeed.

A new unsecured creditor in the Howrey LLP bankruptcy has sued 302 former equity-holding lawyers in an attempt to bypass payments owed to secured creditors and recoup money directly from those lawyers.


But outside observers are skeptical the maneuver - a putative class action on behalf of unsecured creditors - will succeed based on federal and state case precedent.
