GC abruptly departs Hewlett Packard

The general counsel for computer giant Hewlett Packard Co. has left the company just three months after HP named former eBay Inc. chief Meg Whitman as its new chief executive officer.

The general counsel for computer giant Hewlett Packard Co. has left the company just three months after HP named former eBay Inc. chief Meg Whitman as its new chief executive officer.


Michael J. Holston, who joined HP as general counsel in 2007, has left to "pursue other opportunities," according to the company.


Holston was unavailable for comment Monday.
