Michael J. Bostrom


Bostrom turned a consequential loss into a precedent-setting victory, beating back a deluge of outsized "supergraphic" billboards that spread across the city of L.A.


Officials had long lamented the advertisements as visual blemishes. In 2002, citing health and safety hazards, the city council banned them.


Advertisers and property owners fought back, claiming the measure muzzled free speech.
