Lawyers Seek To Halt N.Y. Toyota Trial

Plaintiffs' lawyers leading the fight against Toyota over vehicle defects they allege caused unintended acceleration apparently did not foresee a related case that's headed to trial next month in federal court in New York.

SANTA ANA - Call it a case of suddenly accelerated litigation. A personal injury suit against Toyota Motor Corp. is heading to trial next month in New York federal court ahead of hundreds of consolidated lawsuits pending in the Central District that won't see trial until 2013.


Somehow that first case was not on the radar of plaintiffs' lawyers here. Now they're mounting a last-ditch effor...
