Gov. Jerry Brown named Jacob A. Appelsmith as a senior advisor and director of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. A UC Berkeley School of Law alumnus, he has been a special assistant to the attorney general and chief of the California Bureau of Gaming Control.
