Lawyer Pioneered Police Abuse Litigation in L.A.

LOS ANGELES - Attorney Hugh Manes, a pioneer in police misconduct litigation and civil rights law who started suing police long before it became popular, has died. Manes died Saturday of complications from emphysema. He was 84.
