Clippers Owner Settles Bias Claims

The owner of the pro basketball team will pay a record $2.7 million to settle claims he refused to rent to minorities and families with children at his vast holdings of rental properties.

LOS ANGELES - Donald T. Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers pro basketball franchise, has agreed to pay a record $2.725 million to settle three federal lawsuits alleging he discriminated against Latinos, African-Americans and families with children at apartment buildings he owns in Los Angeles, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.
