Medi-Cal Beneficiaries OK to Sue State in Federal Court

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected California's request to overturn a key appellate ruling that has let lawyers stymie deep health care cuts in federal court.

LOS ANGELES - The United States Supreme Court on Monday rejected California's request to overturn a key appellate ruling that has let lawyers stymie deep health care cuts in federal court.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last year in a case called Independent Living Center v. Shewry that any harmed patient or medical provider could sue state officials under federal law.
