Readers weigh in on the State Bar's attorney discipline system.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR COLUMN

David DeGroot's commentary ("Who Guards the Guardians?" June 11) inaccurately portrays the State Bar's attorney discipline system and argues for unnecessary changes to fix problems that do not exist. DeGroot argues that State Bar cases are improperly delayed.

However, the State Bar handles a massive caseload, fielding more than 70,000 calls and reviewing some 12,000 written complaints every year.
