In the past few months we've seen one round of law-firm layoffs after another. "A Dark Day as Law Firms Shed 800 Jobs," declared a Daily Journal headline on February 13. Then, in quick succession, O'Melveny & Myers cut 200 more jobs; Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe 300; Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman 155; and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker 131.
