On Jan. 19, Sullivan Hill Lewin Rez & Engel and San Diego Unified School District’s Washington Elementary held a mock trial that was presided over by Judge Amalia Meza of the Superior Court of San Diego County. Organized by Sullivan Hill attorneys Olga Alvarez and Jennifer Chang, the script for this year’s trial depicted a case of false imprisonment in an elementary school. Sullivan Hill shareholders Jeff Lewin and John Heisner conducted cross-examinations while associate attorneys Elvira Cortez, Kathryn Millerick and law clerk Mike Zarconi testified as witnesses. The Washington Elementary students served as the jury. After careful deliberations, the jury came back with a verdict of 4 to 2 in favor of not guilty.
