Pray for Relief From Outmoded Legal Lingo
The prayer for relief - you all remember it as one of those building blocks in civil procedure. A true vestige of English history. Pleading with the lord of the realm for a remedy. The pleading for a remedy, whether it is money, equitable relief or a Hail Mary pass from the court, is the part of the civil complaint or petition that asks for damages or wishes for millions of dollars of punitive damages. And sometimes it is only that - a prayer.
