Reinventing Yourself to Fill Another's Shoes Is Tricky

As the legal job market continues its retreat from the boom-time hiring of 1999 and 2000, the victims of law firm and in-house downsizing continue to swell. The sheer number of transactional lawyers back on the job market, combined with the fact that the recession has hit all areas of California and the rest of the country, means that the option of simply taking your existing skills to a similar position at another firm or in-house position is becoming increasingly unavailable.
