Amid audit, State Bar awards new lobbying contract

The state auditor's office is reviewing the appropriateness of the bar's lobbying spending.

The State Bar has awarded a new contract to its outside lobbyist in the midst of the state auditor reviewing the agency's spending on lobbying.

State Auditor Elaine Howle's office revealed Thursday that it is examining the conditions under which it is appropriate for the bar to spend money on lobbying and whether the agency has met those prerequisites.
