Memo to movie director Francis Ford Coppola: Next time you write a letter to a newspaper, check with your lawyer. As reported in the Daily Journal last week, Coppola wants to take his case against "Contact" author Carl Sagan to the California Supreme Court. In 1996, Coppola, through his company Zoetrope Corp., sued the estate of the late author along with Warner Bros., producer of the 1997 "Contact" film, for a piece of the movie's profits.
