Memo Casting Doubt on Perezs Veracity Unsupported, Says DA

The Los Angeles district attorney's office said Tuesday - in its strongest defense yet to criticisms that it blew an opportunity to uncover the Rampart scandal two years before it surfaced - that it has been unable to substantiate allegations by one of its own prosecutors that former officer Rafael A. Perez committed perjury in a 1997 drug case.
