LOS ANGELES — Retired Chief Magistrate Judge Stephen J. Hillman, who sat on the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for 22 years, died June 5. He was 67.
Described by friends and colleagues as humble and compassionate, Hillman frequently presided over civil cases, often handling Social Security appeals and habeas corpus petitions. He served as the Central District of California's chief mag...
