The State Bar terminated its contract with the search firm selected to help the agency find a new chief trial counsel.
The bar's severing of the agreement that would have permitted The Hawkins Co. of Los Angeles to be paid up to $59,500 came after the Daily Journal inquired about the process used to select the firm.
