A recent article - especially its headline ("Female attorneys strike out on their own," Feb. 12) - and women-only attorney groups and seminars are classic examples of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Given that many bar associations, all the way up to the American Bar Association, have separate sections and seminars for only female attorneys, I was not surprised when I saw the headline "Female attorneys strike out on their own," topping the story about three female attorneys opening their own law firm (Feb. 12). The article - especially its headline - and women-only attorney groups and seminars are classic examples of the soft bigotry of low expectations.
