Immigrant visa program a frequent target of SEC enforcement

The top U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission official in Los Angeles said Wednesday there has been an uptick in enforcement actions involving the EB-5 immigrant investor program in the region and she does not anticipate the trend slowing down anytime soon.

CORONADO — There has been an uptick in enforcement actions involving the EB-5 immigrant investor program in Southern California and some adjacent states, the top U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission official in Los Angeles said Wednesday.

Michele Wein Layne, director of the SEC's Los Angeles Regional Office, does not anticipate the trend slowing down anytime soon.
