Three magistrate judges and a general attorney from Morocco’s Court of Cassation visited San Francisco this week as part of a U.S. tour focused on exploring the American judicial system and practices that promote the rule of law. The leaders are interested in undertaking judicial reform in Morocco as the country modernizes its government branches and related institutions. While here, the group met with officials at the U.S. attorney’s office, the San Francisco district attorney’s office and the district court, as well as members of the media, in order to learn how journalism affects judicial accountability. During a stop at the press room in the San Francisco federal courthouse, Mohamed Khadraoui, the designated group leader, met with reporters to talk about the relationship among the courts, the media and the community at large. The visit was organized through the San Francisco office of the Institute of International Education Inc. -Jill Redhage
