On Sept. 23, as part of its 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Initiative, the Los Angeles office of Holland & Knight launched its Build Day. In conjunction with Habitat for Humanity, a team of Holland & Knight volunteers helped to build a new home for a single mother and her four children. Holland & Knight emphasizes a commitment to improving the lives of others through service. No one exemplified this commitment more than Glenn Winuk, a Holland & Knight partner and volunteer emergency medical technician who rushed into the World Trade Center from our office nearby to assist with rescue efforts. He lost his life when the buildings collapsed. Inspired by Glenn’s service, the Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation, through contributions from firm employees, funded and built the FDNY Memorial Wall, which was officially dedicated in 2006 “to those who fell and to those who carry on.”
