California has taken up the baton for now-jettisoned Obama administration initiatives in several areas, including climate change, immigration, and most recently, wage and hour protections. Assembly Bill 1565, passed by the State Assembly and currently pending before the Senate, would adopt the abandoned U.S. Department of Labor regulatory increase in the minimum salary required to qualify for the federal white collar exemptions from overtime.
