MUNICIPAL MATTERS

This year has seen different responses on college campuses with regard to controversial speakers. Student groups have invited such speakers, generating opposition from faculty, student, and the public at large, demanding that the school cancel the speech. In short, while the campus cannot ban the speaker based on the content of the message, the campus can put content neutral measures in place for safety purposes.
