After 44 years participating in the evolution of women in law, I believe economic equality for women requires deep cultural change.
Men dominate our profession's money and power elite. Considering institutions large enough to survey, men disproportionately hold executive positions in law firms and corporate counsel departments. In firms, men disproportionately command top-10 compensation ranks. This remains so despite women's parity in legal talent and near parity in numbers.
