Jury awards $53.7M in big rig crash

A Los Angeles Superior Court jury has awarded a pair of brothers hit by a semi-truck $53.7 million, but it’s unclear who will ultimately be on the hook for paying damages.

A Los Angeles Superior Court jury awarded a pair of brothers hit by a semi-trailer truck $53.7 million, just over half what the plaintiffs sought, but it's unclear who will ultimately be on the hook for paying damages.

The Feb. 21 verdict was against defendant Hector Contreras, who was driving a big rig owned by transportation company CRST Inc. when he crashed into a pickup truck carrying brothers Matthew and Michael Lennig in 2014...
