Riverside County judge declares state’s assisted suicide law unconstitutional

A Riverside County Superior Court judge struck down an assisted suicide law Tuesday after a lawsuit claimed it was illegally passed during a special legislative session.

Attorney Stephen Larson of Larson O'Brien LLP persuaded Riverside County Superior Court Judge Daniel Ottolia to strike down the state's assisted suicide law on Tuesday after arguing it was illegally passed by the Legislature.

A Riverside County Superior Court judge struck down a state assisted suicide law Tuesday, siding with doctors who claimed it was illegally passed during a special legislative session.

Judge Daniel Ottolia granted a motion by Larson O'Brien LLP, invalidating the law as unconstitutional. He stayed the ruling five days to give the government time to appeal.
