Ex-con attorney fights for Manson family member’s release
Richard D. Pfeiffer, the attorney fighting to release a former follower of Charles Manson, said his affinity for “lifers” came from his own days behind bars.
Richard D. Pfeiffer, ex-con who became an attorney with the help of a federal judge, is fighting for the release of former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten.

Pfeiffer, who served two years and four months in state prison for robbery, said when a riot broke out or a clash between inmates and guards escalated, the men serving life were always the ones deflating tensions and restoring order.
