DAs, victims’ families seek to end death penalty moratorium
Orange County District Attorney Todd A. Spitzer is on a statewide tour, with other DAs, to apply pressure on Gov. Gavin Newsom to rescind his death penalty moratorium and on the Legislature to vote down a pending bill to end the practice indefinitely.
RIVERSIDE — When James Jordan was 7, his sister’s murderer called the house to let the family know she wasn’t coming home from school. He remembers a Riverside police officer kneeling down and telling him everything would be OK, that justice would be served.
