Federal construction contractors, prevailing wages and SB 954
At the height of the Great Depression nearly a quarter of Americans were unemployed. In response, Congress enacted a series of laws including the Davis-Bacon Act, which requires federal construction contractors to pay their workers no less than the “prevailing wages” in the area where work is being performed.
