Access to Justice Commission pursuing split from State Bar

The panel is moving forward with separation despite missing out on the state funding it sought.

The California Commission on Access to Justice is moving ahead with its plans to split from the State Bar by the end of 2019 despite a recent funding setback.

The panel sought to have $500,000 inserted in the state budget to provide financial support for it as an independent entity, but the final spending blueprint approved by the Legislature did not include the money.
