A nuclear weapons engineer who claimed he was fired for disclosing safety violations at the national research laboratory in Livermore is arguing the government has a duty to protect whistleblowers like himself.
According to an attorney representing the plaintiff, Anthony Rivera, while admitting he was fired in retaliation for making safety complaints, a Department of Energy hearing judge improperly dismissed his case.
