The State Bar is struggling to review attorney misconduct complaints in a timely manner as a result of what the agency’s top prosecutor recently called a “perfect storm of events.”
The bar’s goal is for the complaints it receives to be either forwarded for investigation or closed within 60 days. But just 54% of the cases that left the agency’s intake unit in September met that internal benchmark.
