Governor names his first 11 judges, including 8 women
The group is majority minority and all Democrats. It includes attorneys from a variety of public and private backgrounds, including family and employment law, prosecutors and defenders.
Gov. Gavin Newsom announced his first 11 superior court judge appointments Friday -- eight of them women.
Their average age is 48. All are Democrats.
Newsom named Martin J. Jenkins, then a justice with the 1st District Court of Appeal, as his judicial appointments secretary just days after taking office in January. But 10 months have since passed.
