1st Latino lawyer, judge in Orange County was ‘complete gentleman’

James Ortega Perez, Orange County's first Latino lawyer and superior court judge, has died. He was 93.

The Orange County Hispanic Bar Association announced Perez's passing this week. He died Nov. 5 after a heart attack, said longtime friend and Judicate West neutral Frederick P. Aguirre, a retired Orange County Superior Court judge.
