Dairy group seeks to halt state quota tax

The Quota Implementation Plan requires dairy farmers to pay a portion of their revenues into a state fund used to stabilize prices and guarantee farmers a minimum return on their sales.

A dairy industry group has sued the state, arguing a government program they are required to pay into is an illegal underground regulation.

The complaint filed Wednesday is part of a multi-front war to overturn the Quota Implementation Plan. This program requires dairy farmers to pay a portion of their revenues into a state fund used to stabilize prices and guarantee farmers a minimum return on their sales.
