Avenatti’s involuntary license deactivation hearing begins
LOS ANGELES -- A former client of Michael J. Avenatti described his slow realization that his attorney was defrauding him, telling a State Bar prosecutor on Wednesday he eventually hired a new lawyer to seek payment on a settlement "because at this point I believed Michael had taken the money."
