Judge ditches $15M jury award in legal battle against the Los Angeles Times

A judge tossed out a $15 million jury award against the Los Angeles Times in an age and disability discrimination suit filed by former sports columnist T.J. Simers and ordered a new trial for damages.

A judge tossed out a $15 million jury award against the Los Angeles Times in an age and disability discrimination suit filed by former sports columnist T.J. Simers and ordered a new trial for damages.

Filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Judge William A. MacLaughlin ordered a third trial in the matter -- the second for damages -- after ruling the jury based the earlier award on improper testimony.
