Four sitting San Francisco County judges were challenged in judicial elections in June.

That same month, Santa Clara County voters chose to remove Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky from the bench.

A year removed from the events, some members of the legal community are renewing calls to protect judicial independence by eliminating judicial elections and recalls altogether.
