Inverse liability wildfire claims threaten Edison’s financial base
Edison faces thousands of claims from plaintiffs in connection with the Woolsey Fire, which began near Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Simi Valley. The cause has not been formally determined but in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Edison stated its equipment, might have been associated with the origin.




The financial footing of Southern California Edison Co. appears to be in question after a state regulator refused to get in the middle of a dispute over whether the utility should be held inversely liable for a 2018 wildfire in Simi Valley.
