A superior court jury in Van Nuys has awarded an elder-care home resident $5.5 million after deciding the facility was neglectful in allowing her to fall and break her neck.

Stalwart Law Group attorneys Dylan Ruga and Brian Poulter, who represented 89-year-old Sherril Phillips, said they believed it to be the largest elder neglect verdict in Van Nuys' history.
