Foreign bribes act repeal would be disaster, attorneys say

Seeking any changes to the law would be disastrous to both the reputations of U.S. companies as well as the United States’ position as a cornerstone of the global economy, according to Nina Marino, a white collar criminal defense attorney at Kaplan Marino, PC.

Legal experts are criticizing a White House adviser's remarks indicating the Trump administration wants to change a 1977 law that makes it illegal for U.S. companies to bribe foreign officials.

National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow told reporters earlier this month his group is "looking at" seeking changes to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, according to news reports.
