Indian tribe invokes sovereign immunity in complaint against financial advisor

The immunity claim against counterclaims filed by the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians on Tuesday in the Eastern District of California could complicate matters for defendant Goldenwise Capital Management.

A California Indian tribe involved in the gambling industry has sued its financial advisor for losing $1.3 million after a series of poor investments in a complaint invoking sovereign immunity against any potential counterclaims.
