US District Judge James Otero to retire in April

On the bench for 30 years, Otero plans to go into the private sector as a neutral in alternative dispute resolution.

After 30 years as a judge in federal and superior court, U.S. District Judge S. James Otero announced his retirement Tuesday.

"I'm really excited to see what the future holds," Otero said in a phone interview. "It's been a great run in the federal and state courts, and I've been blessed to serve the country. It's been an honor."
