Prisons department can’t stop sex crime convicts’ early release

“Because the regulation contravenes the plain language of the statute, we affirm,” wrote 3rd District Court of Appeal Justice Elena J. Duarte, upholding a ruling from the Sacramento County Superior Court.

The state prisons department cannot bar sex crime convicts from early release under the terms of Proposition 57, the 3rd District Court of Appeal has ruled.
